In September 2003 I and my girlfriend visited Swami Sri Balandu ji at his Ashram in Vrindavan. Something really wonderful happened to us there. I would like to share with you the story of this unusual and mystical incident, an experience that we shall always bear in our mind and heart. As trained yoga teachers, we are both aware and have read much about the magnificent effects of meditation techniques and the great awareness that it unfolds. However what we came across here was completely different, as it was not just some theory, but rather an actual living experience and we had the great opportunity to face it first hand. The last night that we spent at the Ashram I woke up at 2:00 am. Yet it was not my beloved in bed next to me, but Swamiji. At once I became fully awake and tried to figure out how this was possible. How could she be gone and Swamiji be there in her place? I gazed at him for a while and clearly saw his skin, hair and the form of his hands. There was no doubt about his really being there. It was him and not my girlfriend. Nevertheless I could not find any explanation for what I saw even though I thought about it intensively. Finally he or she woke up and asked me in my girlfriend's voice what was the matter. I answered, "Darling you look like Swami ji". She replied, "No, you look like him". I realized that we had actually both exchanged our bodies with his. Or was it the other way around? Luckily we still had our voices and I did not have to worry where my girlfriend presently was. But I still could not find any explanation for what had occurred. Therefore I decided to just close my eyes and sleep at the other side of the bed, hoping that this incident would soon be over. The next morning my girlfriend told me that she had been awake for a long time. She had been repeatedly observing me and after quite a while I regained my own body. The next morning Swamiji came and we asked him what had occurred during the previous night. He laughed and said, "Well, when two people see the same incident then it is believable and not an illusion". Swamiji's brother told me that several visitors and devotees had also experienced the same. Later on Swamiji revealed that in the state of meditation his consciousness could take him to any desired place or person and he could manifest himself there merely by the power of his consciousness.
