Sometimes I notice that many people have a very
strange view on Karma and on past lives. Like I said
the day before yesterday that I was told that one
cannot help the poor because it is their Karma to
live in misery. I do believe in good and bad Karma
and I also believe in reincarnation. I believe that
we have to create good Karma and also have to
encourage and educate our children to do good and to
be nice, honest and good. However I do not
believe in the fear of bad Karma and the guilt that
is taught along with the fear. And when something
happens wrong I do not believe in saying that it is
because of what happened in a past life. On one hand
Karma is often used as an excuse and nobody can
control or check if it is true what people say that
happened in their past life. On the other hand fear
is created of making bad Karma in this life. But you
can control this life, you can decide what to do. I
was asked sometimes if I knew who I was in my past
life and I answered that I am not interested in
knowing that. I want to know who I am now, in
presence. Why should I think about the past and
worry about how much bad Karma I created when I
could do so much good Karma in the presence, just in
this life, in this moment. Why are people interested
in knowing who they were? What advantage do you have
from knowing this? I met people who are telling
others all the time what they were in former lives.
And who knows if this is true? Or if they just like
to make up and tell stories? I do not like it when
people are scared and afraid from this kind of talk
and then want to know more and more about their past
lives and even try to heal and change whatever they
did then. And there are others who are offering this
service of changing past lives. I think that you can
do everything now and you should not think too much
of the past. I may have said this before: Why do we
kill the joy of the presence with regretting the
past and worrying about the future? Please
understand the power of the presence, the power of
NOW. Unfortunately it is like this that the majority
of people who think of the past cannot enjoy the
moment. And the same with worries about the future.
Good, it is normal to try and make yourself a
security even in material way but please do not
forget to enjoy the presence. Whatever will come,
will come and we will face it. It will be for
something good. Live in love and everything will be
fine.
