The
name tantra is made from the two words “tan” and “tra”.
Tan is an abbreviation of the word tanoti and when
translated from Sanskrit means to extend. Tra is an
abbreviation of the word trayati and when translated from
Sanskrit means liberation. So the word tantra is a
combination of these two words and means to extend your
consciousness to be liberated.
Swami ji’s thinking
about tantra is that he wonders why the western world mainly
associates tantra with sex only; this is the wrong thinking
and understanding about tantra. It is also widely known in
the western world that people are associating different
colours with tantra such as white, red and black tantra.
Colour plays no part in tantra, the origins of tantra bears
no colours.
In the Sanskrit
tantric scriptures there is much referencing to sexual
energies in tantra. This is because sexual energy is a big
part of our consciousness and does not belong to any
pornographic sick sexual mentality. In the tantric
scriptures sexual energy is very divine and meant for yogis
and not bhogis. Tantra is for creating energy of love to
liberate.
Swami Ji feels much
regret towards people who are selling sex in the name of
tantra.
Tantra is about
working with the chakras and kundalini to achieve
consciousness and this is what Swami Ji teaches in his
workshops and not about tantric sex.
Tantra is about
making love with the soul. Just like technology helps us to
enhance and advance our lives in this modern day of living,
similarly with tantra we use “yantra & mantra” which are
methods we use to liberate our consciousness much faster
just like technology.
Detachment is the key to liberating ourselves in tantra.
Detachment means when you love someone without having to
have any reason to love them, because when you love someone
with a reason you’re loving with attachments. You need to
have compassion, feelings and emotion in your heart to
enable you to love someone without having to have a reason
to love them.
