The Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary can be found just on the border of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. It is one of India's premier wildlife parks, formerly known as the Keoladeo Ghana National Park, and stretches over 29 square kilometres of forests, marsh, shallow lakes and grasslands. Originally founded as a shooting preserve, Keoladeo became a bird sanctuary in 1956 and finally became a national park in 1982. Today it is known as one of the best water bird preserves on earth. This World Heritage Site is only 40 kilometres away from our Ashram. Coming in the early hours of the morning you will have the possibility to see some of the world’s most endangered bird species. The best time for visiting the sanctuary is from November to March when the Siberian birds are there for breeding. If you want to visit Keoladeo during your stay in Ashram we can organize it for you.
