How to get from the airport to the Ashram?

Vrindavan is 150 kilometers south of Delhi. When you arrive at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, you have three different possibilities to reach Vrindavan, either you go by taxi, by bus or by train.

Taxi

Let us know your flight details and time of arrival by an email to support@jaisiyaram.com and we can arrange a taxi to pick you up at the airport. The driver will be waiting at the exit of the airport with a sign saying ‘Shree Bindu Sewa Sansthan’ and he will bring you directly to the Ashram. It is a drive of about three hours, depending on traffic. A taxi, arranged by us before, will cost 50 Dollars. (February 2010).

Bus

To go to Vrindavan by bus you first need to get a taxi or auto-rickshaw from the airport to the Sarai Kale Khan bus station which is 45 kilometres away (approximately one hour drive). From there you take the bus to Mathura where you get out at Mathura bus station. There you will be awaited by a crowd of auto-rickshaw drivers who will be happy to take you to Vrindavan. This journey will take you at least five and a half hours, probably more, and will cost about the same amount of money, depending on your bargaining skills when the prize for the rickshaws is concerned.

Train

If you want to take a train to Vrindavan, you need to take an auto-rickshaw to the New Delhi Station or the Nizamuddin Station in Delhi. From there you hop on the train to Mathura station which is a ride of two and a half or three hours. An auto-rickshaw can then take you to Vrindavan. By train it may be a journey of five hours and depending on the ticket that you buy and in which train class you travel you may pay the same or even more money. Train tickets can be purchased in advance via internet.

To draw a conclusion on the three possibilities we would like to let our future visitors know that we will be happy to arrange a taxi for them. This is the easiest, fastest and cheapest way which will save you a lot of nerves especially after a long and exhausting flight. Of course some travellers are looking for an adventure and would like to experience public transport in India for this reason. If so, it is of course fully up to you. We wish that your experience in India may be as joyful as possible!
