Radhashtami -
The birthday of Radha
|
|
 |
Radhashtami is a big religious festival in India. It
is the birthday of the Hindu Goddess Radha and thus one of the
most important holidays. Especially in Vrindavan this
festival is celebrated as one of the main holidays of
the year as it
was in this town that Radha and Lord Krishna have spent
much time together and celebrated their love. Each year
on Radhashtami thousands of people come to Vrindavan to
celebrate. There are two more birthdays on the same day
that make this day even more auspicious. One is the
birthday of Swami Haridas ji, the great saint and
musician. He was the master of another wonderful
musician, Tansen. Swami Haridas ji has written thousands
of love poems about Radha and Krishna that are still
popular today. His teachings of love and devotion are
touching every heart. The second birthday is the one of
Goswami Bindu ji, Swami Ji’s grandfather. That’s
why Swami ji did choose this day to enter in the cave to
start his meditation for the following 3 years and 108 days. All
these things come together on this one day and that’s
what makes this day very special for Shree Bindu Sewa
Sansthan. We celebrate the annual function day of Shree
Bindu Sewa Sansthan and the anniversary of Swami ji
entering the cave. It is a festival of senses, joy
and enthusiasm that seeks its equal. You should not miss this!
