My blissful Yoga practice at the Ashram – I was inspired at the beginning of this year to start keeping a diary. This inspiration came from a really good friend Swami Ji. He has an on-line diary that I faithfully read every night. His fun and expressive way of sharing his life and the lives of others has lead me down my own path of sharing. I call my diary – “Living my Yoga”. I’ve been a yoga teacher for many years but it wasn’t till my visit here at the ashram I really understood the meaning of yoga and what it was to teach it to others. In the west we learn and teach Asana and call it YOGA. In the east YOGA is a lifestyle. Yoga means union and how we connect to ourselves, others and the universe, this is true yoga. As a teacher I feel it’s my obligation to live my yoga instead of doing a superficial asana practice and calling it the "road to enlightenment". It’s important to be true to the practice and live under the guidelines and conditions of the yama’s and the Niyama’s…..this is yoga! Today I had the wonderful opportunity to practice asana and mediation in the magical garden of the ashram. When I laid down to take savasana, final relaxation pose I notice nature and all it’s love and beauty around me. In the garden there is a quite peacefulness that surrounds me as I surrender. The aroma of the fresh flowers puts me in a trance as the dewy grass tickles the backs of my hands, arms and ankles. The sweet sound of birds, flies, bees and children is better than any song or symphony I’ve ever heard. As the sun beats on my face and body I can feel every ray showering me with beautiful love and energy! I can truly taste the love. I feel so blessed to be here this month at the ashram and with my dear friends, living my yoga! In love su
