Yoga For Women

Yoga for Women

Many of the typical characteristics that are associated with women, emotional imbalance and mood swings for example, have their cause in physical aspects of life that men simply never experience: hormonal changes, menstruation cycles, pregnancies and menopause. Gynecologists who are asked what one can do against period pain, irregular periods and menopause problems often give one advice: practice yoga.

Yoga is beneficial for women of all ages in many different ways. The most important factor is that yoga has a soothing effect on your mind and soul and it brings your body back into balance, too.

Yoga for Menstruation and Menopause Problems

Physical Help – Period Cramps, Hot Flashes and Irregular Periods

Among the yoga position below there are many which, especially when practiced regularly, can help you with the physical discomforts of your menstrual cycle such as period cramps, back pain and pain during ovulation. Yoga postures help the muscles in your lower abdomen relax, they move and softly massage your organs and thus relieve pain and prevent cramps.

Yoga also helps with hot flashes during menopause if you keep a regular yoga practice focused on balancing the body temperature and hormones so that imbalances do not affect you. For irregular periods, too, yoga can help if you exercise regularly over a longer time.

If you would like to do yoga during pregnancy, you can have a look at prenatal yoga postures. If you are concerned about losing weight – be it pregnancy weight, menopause weight or extra fat gained because of hormonal contraceptives or treatments, you can look at the category Yoga for weight loss.

Emotional Help – Dealing with your emotions

With menopause, menstruation and any hormonal change, your emotions can get upset, you can have mood swings you cannot explain to yourself and you feel that you are short-tempered in one moment and happy like never before in the next. Some people feel this emotional turmoil more than others and everybody copes differently with it. If you have difficulties dealing with your emotions in these times, try practicing yoga and feel how it balances your mood, helps you realize and be aware of the influence of hormones and gives you ways to stay happy, joyful and in peace also while your body is changing inwardly.
