14 Nov 2009 Vrindavan, India
Category: Children
Today is the 14th November, a national holiday in India. It is the birthday of our first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and as he loved children very much, it is also called children’s day. In Vrindavan there are celebrations on this day each year and especially children fairs with carousels and food that children like. I remember that in my childhood my school organized a fair each year and we were also making and selling food or had a project that we presented. And today the same school still organizes a yearly fair on this day.
This year our children were invited there and at the same time to another fair for a dance performance. So a group of children and teachers went to one fair and another one to the other. We are very proud of our children and their dancing. One of the girls received 50 Rupees from someone who liked her dance so that she could enjoy the fair very much and the other group all got lunchboxes as presents for their beautiful performance.
It is wonderful, they are so happy and proud and it just makes their teachers and us all also happy. A child’s smile is something very precious and it makes your heart fill with love and happiness.

In the US we have Mother's day and Father's day to celebrate parents. I have often heard children ask "when is children's day?" to which the response is inevitably "every day is children's day." But I think it is a good thing that you have a festival like this for children. It's a very good thing.

SourceDon't buy in shops where you see children working. Ask the shop owner, get him to think about it and let him know you don’t buy there because of the child he has employed.
SourceEverybody’s situation is very individual. If I tell you that it is always good to be honest, it is your responsibility how to use this suggestion. If you decide to be honest, unnecessarily tell your boss that you don’t like him and get fired, I would not think that I was responsible for that!

SourceFor many people the happiness of others is a bigger reason to be sad than their own problems.
SourceIf you always only think of the happiness of others, you forget your own happiness. When you have established your own happiness with what you do and with who you are, when you accept your heart, your personality and your own life, then you can help others to find their happiness.

SourceLove should always be unconditional. If there is any condition, it is not really love. If someone leaves because of a condition you don't fulfil, you do not have to feel guilty or have an inferiority complex. Those who really love you, love you how you are, not because of something or a certain quality.
SourceDo you think of meditation as a competition? Whoever can sit in meditation the longest is the winner! That person is closer to enlightenment than all others or has even already reached enlightenment! Those who cannot sit still for even half an hour are beginners, losers, materialists and very non-spiritual people!
