Do not live like an Animal - Realize yourself! - 30 Aug 08

Today Yashendu had a long yoga Workshop which was called ‘Yoga Intensive’. Intensive here should not mean difficult Yoga postures but a variety of different postures and also philosophical topics. So he talked about the different paths of Yoga and also about human and his role in this world.

'What makes us different than animals? There are maybe 8.4 million different kinds of creatures on this world. All 8.4 million creatures have the same desires: they need to satisfy their hunger, have a place to rest and sleep and they have the instinct to reproduce. But only one, humankind, has the possibility to achieve wisdom. Only human has this intelligence not only to follow its instincts and senses but to go beyond that. We are reborn again and again, sometimes in the form of an animal, then we cannot do anything. Sometimes we are reborn into the human form and then we can realize what we are here for. We can realize our truth, our inner self. But so many people live their lives like this: they go to work, they eat, they lie down to sleep, on the weekends they go out and on Mondays they start work again. Eating, sleeping and dying, only this is not the life. You have to think about who you are, for what you are here, what is your purpose. Realize the truth and embrace love in your life.

The ability to learn and to refer our knowledge to the next generations makes us also unique and builds the difference between human beings and animals. And exactly that knowledge we should try to use to make our life more satisfied and happy, instead of following a routine.

It is so sad that many people do this; go through life not thinking or caring about the world or people around them. I wish everyone would open their eyes and see the beauty and love that surrounds them.

Contemplating the purpose of humanity is fascinating. We have evolved to communicate with language, which is a big reason why we have the societies that exist today. Through communication we can work together to create change and positive growth. And yes, we have the capability for wisdom. But through our complex mental structure, we have also forgotten our natural instincts of the earth. We have fabricated what we desire in life and have forgotten the rhythms and harmony of nature. Something to consider as we move forward with technology, knowledge, and wisdom-- how can we also include and protect our Mother Nature?

Because we tell stories, that's why we are different.

do you think that at some part of evolution many creature saw the potential for wisdom or more complicated thought process and simply shrugged their shoulders and kept digging in the grass? I wonder.

Words of Wisdom

  • Religion

Believers should study their belief. Find out in depth what is written in scriptures and if you find things you don’t like, ask yourself if you can really blindly accept them as religion asks you to.

    Source
  • Rules

I don’t like rules but I like discipline. It makes your will power strong.

    Source
  • Psychology

    Don't try to control everything!

    Source
  • Feelings

People are not sensitive for their own feelings anymore. Come down from head to heart, from thinking to feeling. Switch off the mind from time to time and listen to what your heart says. Then you will discover your true feelings.

    Source
  • God

God doesn’t want to own a house or a temple, he is just there, living in our heart. It is the greed of people who want to own land – and if they can possess it on the name of God, they do.

    Source
  • Self-Confidence

Get the self-confidence to get out of the habits of comparing and pretending to be someone else. Love yourself, as you are. Accept whoever you are, respect your feelings of what you want to do and what you don’t want to do and love! Then your mind will be free from the worry and you will realize that others do love you as you are.

    Source
  • Nature

Take care to be in harmony with nature. Enjoy nature and be thankful for it. With thankfulness the respect for nature will become your basic attitude and then you will never have the idea to leave your garbage somewhere in a forest or pollute a river. Being in harmony with nature can make you happy.

    Source
  • Superstition

In India people believe chicken pox is the anger of a goddess and you cannot do anything against it with medicine – you can only pray and do rituals to appease the goddess.

    Source
  • Food

Our body is the temple of our soul. Our soul, our god lives in it and we need to respect it and take care of it. Listen to it and only eat when you are hungry. Take care of what you eat, eat healthy food, eat vegetarian. Your stomach is not a garbage box. Fill it with nice things, not with junk food or fast food.

  • Attachment

Real Sadhus have fully renounced from worldly life and don’t ask money of tourists!

    Source
  • Personal

It is good to unfriend or block those who don’t have friendly feelings for you because each time they read any of your posts, they get more annoyed and angry. Save them from anger and bad feelings, don’t spoil their mood and day. Indeed, it is a good deed. :)

    Source
  • Happiness

We are mostly happy when we take but true happiness is when you enjoy giving.

    Source
  • Expectations

Make yourself happy while helping others without expectations.

    Source
  • Feelings

People are not very sensitive towards their own feelings and the feelings of others anymore. It is the biggest loss of today’s time: the loss of sensitivity.

    Source
  • Relationship

Acceptance and respect are needed for keeping a relationship alive. Your perception of your partner must be clean of doubts. Nothing is bad or good, keep in mind that it is only your perception.

    Source
  • Responsibility

Karma is in many ways just a very easy way for irresponsible people to accept bad events and not try to change anything in their behavior or their thinking.

    Source
  • Emotions

Spiritual and esoteric people nowadays believe that the world should be just all love and nothing else, forgetting that 'negative' emotions are necessary for living and developing. They have to be there, they are natural!

    Source
  • Spiritual

Spirituality may be different for everyone but if you have a meaningful life, no matter whatever this is for you, you live in spirituality. If you feel that you fulfill your purpose of life, you are happy and that is true spirituality.

    Source
  • Religion

It is stupid to try and make others believe what you believe. Never try to change anybody’s belief.

    Source
  • Sects

You belong to god, you belong to love. You don’t need to belong to anyone or anything which manipulates your mind and where you lose your freedom of being yourself.
