Yesterday we were talking about love. Love is the feeling which naturally flows in everybody’s heart. The natural quality of love is that it makes you happy. This can happen in any way. Unfortunately people are sometimes afraid of the word ‘love’ because of some bad experience. I don’t know why the word love is often labeled as something sexual.
In the English language sex is also called ‘making of love’, which in my philosophy is strange and difficult to understand. Making of love could be anything and not necessarily something sexual. Hugging someone or just creating a lovely atmosphere, this could also be making of love. But the term is used for the sexual act. Your feeling of love can go in many directions also with a place or a flower for example which doesn’t have any sexual connection.
One of my friends from Germany wanted to give a name to his house and asked me if I could give him a Sanskrit name for his house. In that time a name came into my mind: Prem Dham, which was the name of my grandfather’s Ashram. When he asked me about the meaning of this word I said to him ‘Place of love’. He laughed and said ‘oh no, I can’t give this name to my house, otherwise people will think it is a sex club…’
Today many friends came together at the Ashram and we had a cultural program of Indian classical music, light music and some dance. It was a beautiful evening.

I suppose I understand the term "making love" because I grew up with it... I associate the phrase with sex but not necessarily being in love or loving someone. I agree that sex is separate from love. You can have one without the other, but I think it's best when you have them together!

SourceIt is impossible to be ‘religious but not superstitious’ because religious scriptures are full of superstition. You cannot separate superstition from religion, its origin. It as a positive sign though, if you think this much - you have taken the first step!
