Hope is Necessary in Life but also the Reason for Disappointment - 7 May 09

Food for a day

There is a Sutra in Sanskrit which says ‘Aasha dukhasya karanam.’ This means: Hope is the reason of disappointment. It is true that we get disappointment because of our hope. When it is not fulfilled, we don’t feel good. I am a person full of hope but unfortunately sometimes I have to say somebody not to keep hope so that they don’t get disappointed.

But then there is another saying in Hindi: ‘Jabtak swasa, tabtak aasa’ and it means: As long as you breathe you have hope. I believe that it is very good to have hope. I am a positive person full of hope. And of course, if there is no hope it will be difficult to survive and be alive. You definitely need some hope to live. If you don’t have hope, then what is the meaning of life? This whole world and everybody is going on because of hope.

The other day I went to see the old man I wrote about, Helgas's father. And today she and he sponsored the children's food.

CREATION OF GOOD LIFE IS AN ART.TRY TO KNOW THE BEAUTY OF LIFE.

I really don't want to imagine what would happen if hope wouldn't exist. Life isn's steady and sometimes we're in a personal bad mood, and also there is a lot of cruelty in the world, many natural disasters and by mankind generated wars. It's sad, but comes and goes. And to be able to go, all these negative things need our hope.

Maybe we could distinguish between hope and expectations... expectations lead to disappointments, but hope always endures! Even when every plan falls apart, hope will be found in the heart. I love this second saying: As long as you breathe, you have hope. Beautiful. And sometimes we feel like all we have is breath...but it is enough to have hope. :)

18Jabtak swasa, tabtak aasa 19. If a friend asks me if I think that there will be a nuclear holocaust I will say "I don't know," and I try not to hope not. This may sound funny but for me the process of hoping in this way is a defense against fear. Instead I take a breath and say yes to what may happen (this would not stop me from doing what is in my power to prevent a nuclear war). This breath gives me hope in a very different way. This hope is not based on my imagination or something that I cannot really believe in.

Words of Wisdom

  • Money

It is nothing new that this society is focused on money. It is nothing new that the masses don’t care about the individual. But what about you? Why are you playing along?

    Source
  • Religion

It is impossible to be ‘religious but not superstitious’ because religious scriptures are full of superstition. You cannot separate superstition from religion, its origin. It as a positive sign though, if you think this much - you have taken the first step!

    Source
  • Religion

Don’t only talk to those who want to make you believe in their religion, talk to those who consciously decided not to believe. Make an experiment and see religion through the eyes of someone who has refused it.

    Source
  • Religion

Religion has always worked like a dictatorship, exploiting people, using fear to make them accept the rules without asking. The dictator makes the rules and you have no way to change them.

    Source
  • Body

What is special in any part of the body? Everybody has the same body parts. You do not need to do extra effort for hiding anything and not for exhibiting, either. Why can’t we just be normal and natural?

    Source
  • Self-Confidence

Do what you feel is right. Yes, you may need some more courage to face a few more storms than others. It might get uncomfortable sometimes but it would be much more uncomfortable for you to go against what you really want to do.

  • Happiness

Important is not how rich you are but how happy you are.

    Source
  • Perfectionism

Perfectionism is perfect if there is no comparison.

    Source
  • God

A prayer is a way of getting closer to God. So it is good to pray, but it should be out of love, not because you have to pray. Pray with your heart.

    Source
  • Soul

Illusion only exists with the limitations of this earth. Once the soul is liberated and free of the body and this material world, rich or poor, high or low does not matter anymore.

    Source
  • Closeness

Love cannot grow if you don’t have closeness. Sometimes it is very hard to get close to someone. Sometimes there is physical closeness but no closeness of the heart, sometimes the mind is close but nothing else. You cannot establish a strong relationship if you don’t accept full closeness.

  • Enlightenment

There is no moment in life in which a light is switched on, like a bulb, and from then on you are an enlightened being that can give enlightenment to others, switching on their inner light bulbs with just a little trick.

    Source
  • Religion

Why would God want women to be worth less than men? If men can read a book that you consider holy, why would women not read it, too? Why is it a sign of impurity when they go through their cycle, the most natural process on earth which makes life possible? There is nothing wrong in believing in the good aspects of different religions. Female suppression is however one of those aspects that can happily be left behind. Gender equality and fairness is something that you don’t need a religion to teach you.

    Source
  • God

After accidents some people believe it happened due to their sins and bad Karma but God saved them. Well, he saved your life but you do have broken bones. If this guy could keep you from dying, why could he not save your bones from being crushed? Was he too busy? Did he think it would look unrealistic that you have an accident and don’t even break something? Or did he really think ‘Man, you got some bad Karma over there! Not bad enough for dying but at least a bone fracture!’

  • Responsibility

Some people who believe in reincarnation neglect their own responsibilities. There is always a very convenient excuse: that happens because of my past life!

    Source
  • Superstition

No difference in faith and superstition - lose the faith in your faith!

    Source
  • Spiritual

Spirituality may be different for everyone but if you have a meaningful life, no matter whatever this is for you, you live in spirituality. If you feel that you fulfill your purpose of life, you are happy and that is true spirituality.

  • Decision

Let your sons and daughters take their own decisions and carry the consequences. Don’t control every little detail but let them get the taste of being adult.

    Source
  • Religion

Religion is imagination and interpretation but also wants to control. That is why people start turning away from religions. They are told which way to go but they want freedom! Let people believe what they wish to believe. Always choose freedom and love.

  • Psychology

Bad luck or good luck are simply a manipulation of your mind, a psychological effect for those who believe in it.
