Bad Service on Airplanes and Losing of Luggage - 7 Apr 08

At the Airport - Yashendu, Ramona and Swami Ji at airport

We spent the day in planes, cars, airports, busses, in short, we were traveling from Delhi via London to Frankfurt. It was a journey of more than one day because we started in the night to Delhi. We did not really sleep, are very tired and the mind is not working very fast anymore but I hope after this night's sleep in Wiesbaden we will be fresh tomorrow.

We have really made a bad experience with British Airways. On the flight to Delhi in February our luggage got lost and did not come until one week later. Andrea, Melly and Susi, who went home earlier, had the bad luck of coming into the chaos of the newly opened Terminal 5 in Heathrow, London. That is more than ten days ago and yesterday the first of their suitcases arrived. The two others might take quite some time more. Both of our flights today were delayed and we prepared our minds already that we might not get our suitcases in Frankfurt. We passed all of the security checks and just before entering the plane to London they looked into each bag again and at that point they took out our homemade Ayurvedic herbal salt and said we were not allowed to take this. After a lot of discussion they agreed on checking in another one of our bags in which we put the bottle with the salt. The service staff in the plane was everything else than friendly. When we received our meal and saw that there was onion in it we asked for some more bread. We were amazed by the short answer: "No." "Very well, can we have some apple juice?" "We are out of apple juice." This is okay but why does the air hostess carry around a tray with apple juice half an hour later?

At least we did not have any problem at Heathrow (except that the flight was late). And after this long journey we were happy to see our suitcases on the belt in Frankfurt. But the bag with the salt was missing. Well, we were glad that nearly everything was there and we could go out to Thomas who was already waiting to welcome us heartily. The missing bag will also arrive in the next days. Hopefully.
Anyway, after these experiences we consider not to travel with British Airways anymore.

Airplane service is so frustrating! you are stuck in a box in the air with no way out, the least people can do is be friendly.

It must be really stressful being a flight attendant, but still, rudeness is never the answer! The woman was probably miserable in her personal life and so she takes it out on other people.

Words of Wisdom

  • Attachment

Real Sadhus have fully renounced from worldly life and don’t ask money of tourists!

    Source
  • Love

God is love and love is God. The definition that you give for ‘God’ you can also give for love. God is infinite. Love too. There is no end and no limit. Love cannot be finished, it is simply impossible.

    Source
  • Body

Everybody has a heart and a soul. The body is the temple of our soul, in which it lives and we should be very respectful with it. We should not make an exhibition with it and we should not have rules to hide it. Both is not right and if you do one of both, you are disrespecting your body.

    Source
  • Feelings

Human traded his sensitivity for a modern lifestyle.

    Source
  • Ego

It is the ego of believing that you are perfect which kills all your happiness in what you do.

    Source
  • Meditation

It is your awareness of the moments. When you are hurrying, you are just focused on what you are doing, to do it as quick as possible and the moments go by without you noticing them. When you are waiting, you are really aware of each moment, you feel each moment, each breath that you take. Both ways can be meditation.

    Source
  • Prediction

Human is just a puppet in a big play. You think you are in charge but there is something bigger than you. Nature, god, the universe, however you want to call it. Even if you know your body, you don’t have full control over it. Nobody knows when, what can happen. Nobody can predict anything.

    Source
  • Attachment

If you can enjoy giving joy to somebody else, it is detachment!

    Source
  • Religion

Criminals and people who do wrong live in fear of the consequences of their actions. Religion gives them a good way to find forgiveness. You only need to go to the temple regularly, tell a priest about what you have on your mind, pay some money, say some prayers and you are forgiven. Then you can go out to do the next crime.

    Source
  • Religion

Religion started as a tool to explain the inexplicable.

    Source
  • Sex

If someone rapes a girl, how come her honour is gone? It should be the other way around! He loses his honour by doing this crime!

    Source
  • Parenting

You are not qualified to have a baby if you cannot give time and love to that little being.

    Source
  • Life

We all should be more open towards others and take life easy.

    Source
  • Silence

Save your energy by not talking when it is not really necessary.

    Source
  • Sex

Sex is a very holy and spiritual act and the subject of soul and body, but not of the mind. If it comes into the mind, it will make you sick. You should enjoy sex with your soul and with your body. Don’t think of it, just do it!

    Source
  • Family

In India you can learn about love in between family members, about supporting each other and living together in peace and freedom.

    Source
  • Lie

People usually don’t lie because they want to harm someone but to hide their thoughts, to hide their feelings, shortly to hide themselves. It is one of the greatest problems that a person can have: low self-esteem.

    Source
  • Happiness

Being happy is the biggest worship of god. I don’t think that God would be more happy about any other ritual or method of worshipping.

    Source
  • Responsibility

Western culture is not responsible for sex, alcohol and gambling problems in India!

    Source
  • Rituals

We don’t need rituals to find God and God will not be especially happy if we do rituals for him. You can find God through love and by being in love, you do the best service to him that you can.
