Dishonesty in Greeting Cards - Hipocrisy of Christmas - 30 Dec 08

Sometimes I do not really understand and feel strange about some people who are dishonest. There are people who do not wish anything good for me. Maybe they are jealous or they feel a competition which is not there, as I do not participate in any competition. Maybe they do not like it that I don’t approve of their way of spirituality which is often very superficial and not down-to-earth. We got the proof that they do not have best wishes in their hearts but for Christmas and New Year I received greeting cards on which best wishes are written. And I wonder how best wishes can travel with the post if you do not have them in the heart.

A greeting card is only a symbol to express what you have inside your heart. It doesn’t matter how big or expensive the card is, you cannot send anything that you do not have. And if you have best wishes in your heart, they will arrive even if you do not send them by post in form of a card.

I received those greeting cards and this shows me the dual character of these people. What they have in their heart is different from what they carry on their tongue. I appreciate honesty. Even if you do not like something you can accept that with honesty. This dishonesty of having something else inside than what you express will make many psychological problems and create many obstacles in your spiritual path.

I wish and pray to my god for these people, too, to bring more peace, love and honesty into their hearts for this New Year.

Today in the evening Eira came together with her sister Mervi who had birthday. We had a great dinner together and they invited us to come to Finland next year.

Diwali is coming! How exciting. I wonder what kind of dishonesties surround Diwali? Because I feel like all celebration have the possibility for happiness and family... But, with each celebration also comes marketability, and traditions that become mindless habits. It is hard for me to enjoy Holidays, perhaps I am just a grouch. Or a Grinch.

Greeting cards are just a formality. No one means it when they send one, and no one takes it seriously when they get one, unless they are very lonely. But so many things are not meant and not received seriously, or genuinely. Not Just greeting cards. It is the blanket our social system in resting under. (In the US at least) and it is frustrating, discouraging.

Christmas is one of the most trying times for me, it seems that even though people battle with fakeness most of the year- Christmas is when they bring in the least real parts of them. Everyone puts on faces because there are so many expectations at Christmas, then people get stressed out and upset. Holidays should be for celebrating! not losing all your money on things no one needs to own and fighting with your family.

Words of Wisdom

  • Friend

When you meet someone, don't expect you to be 'best friends forever'. Just be happy to meet. Simply enjoy how nice the moment is without planning the future.

  • Children

Don't buy in shops where you see children working. Ask the shop owner, get him to think about it and let him know you don’t buy there because of the child he has employed.

  • Psychology

If you think it is clothes that are responsible for rape, what were 2-year-old babies wearing when they were raped which aroused men so that he had no other possibility than raping them? Where did they go, in which bar or disco?

  • Devotion

Whatever you do, offer it to God. You are not acting, whatever you do is for God and from God. Put your heart and love in what you do and enjoy doing it.

Arranged marriage means that I have to cope with you – but I cannot bear your family!

  • Truth

All religions say that only they know the truth and are busy in advocating their case. But the truth is that you only need to advocate something if it is untrue. The truth is true and will show itself.

  • Religion

People prefer making religious donations rather than charity donations to secure a seat in heaven by giving to a preacher or temple.

  • Religion

It is impossible to be ‘religious but not superstitious’ because religious scriptures are full of superstition. You cannot separate superstition from religion, its origin. It as a positive sign though, if you think this much - you have taken the first step!

  • Victim

Don't enjoy being a victim. Don't keep your problems like companions but let them go.

Let your feelings flow. It is so simple but can be very difficult. Society taught us to suppress our feelings and tears are seen as weak. Let it flow. When you are sad, please cry.
